5 Serpentis is a star in the constellation Serpens. Its apparent magnitude is 5.10. Located around 25.38 parsecs (82.8 ly) distant, it is a white giant or subgiant of spectral type F8, a star that has used up its core hydrogen and is evolving to become a red giant. The star was once thought to be a BY Draconis variable, but has been found not to be.
