4177 Kohman (1987 SS1) is an outer main-belt asteroid discovered on September 21, 1987 by Edward L. G. Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory. It is one of very few asteroids located in the 2 : 1 mean motion resonance with Jupiter. Named in honor of Truman Paul Kohman professor of nuclear chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University.
