3074 Popov , provisionally known as 1979 YE9, is a main-belt asteroid discovered on December 24, 1979 by Lyudmila Zhuravleva at the Crimean Nauchnyj Observatory. It is named after Russian physicist Alexander Stepanovich Popov, who is considered to be the inventor of radio in his homeland and eastern European countries. A lunar crater is also named after him.
