21509 Lucascavin (1998 KL35) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on May 22, 1998 by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research team at Socorro, New Mexico. This asteroid is believed to result from the collisional destruction of a larger parent body approximately 300,000 to 800,000 years ago. The asteroid was named for Lucas James Cavin who won second place in the 2005 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for his engineering project.
