The match will be contested between Japanese team Urawa Red Diamonds, the 2016 J.League Cup winners, and Brazilian team Chapecoense, the 2016 Copa Sudamericana winners. It will be hosted by Urawa Red Diamonds at the Saitama Stadium 2002 in Saitama on 15 August 2017.

Format

The Suruga Bank Championship is played as a single match, with the J. League Cup winners hosting the match. If tied at the end of regulation, extra time is not played, and the penalty shoot-out is used to determine the winner. A maximum of seven substitutions may be made during the match.
