Coaching change
On July 29, 2015, it was announced that the Lightning dismissed head coach Carlos Knox, who had held the position since the start of the 2014–15 season. In an official statement, the team said that "he would not return to the franchise due to conduct detrimental to the team." It was later revealed that Knox had the hidden positive drug tests of player Jonathan Mills, who was suspended for the upcoming season. On August 19, 2015, the Lightning hired Kyle Julius as the coach for the 2015–16 season. He had held the same position with the Mississauga Power the previous year, but left after the team became defunct.
