Sam Querrey, who grew up in nearby Thousand Oaks defeated Ričardas Berankis for his third Los Angeles title in four years on July 29, 2012. The championship match lasted just 51 minutes. Last year's champion Ernests Gulbis did not play in the Farmers Classic, but chose to compete in Kitzbühel this year.
