This event is the last of the WTA Premier Mandatory Tournaments in 2010. Caroline Wozniacki is this edition's top seed, followed by Vera Zvonareva.
10th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was the defending champion, but she subsequently lost to Italian qualifier Roberta Vinci 3–6, 6–2, 3–6 in the first round.
Caroline Wozniacki won the title by defeating Vera Zvonareva in the final 6–3, 3–6, 6–3. She became World No. 1 by beating Petra Kvitová in the third round.
