Rafael Nadal was the defending champion, and won in the final 6–3, 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, against Roger Federer.

Federer had the second consecutive chance to become the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four Grand Slam tournaments at once, having won the Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Australian Open, in 2006-07, but he lost in the final against Nadal for a second consecutive time in a row.
