The 2006 World Cup of Pool was the first edition of the tournament. The event was held in Newport, Wales from August 22–27, 2006.

The Philippine team of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante became the first champions of the World Cup of Pool, defeating the American tandem of Earl Strickland and Rodney Morris, 13–5.
