The 2004 Women's African Football Championship was held in South Africa between 18 September and 3 October 2004. The tournament was won by Nigeria.

Qualifying Tournament
Eight teams make it through to the main tournament in Nigeria, and the teams played in a single-elimination tournament until eight teams remained for the finals.
First round
Winners, in bold, progressed to the second round. Matches were played on 29 May and 30 May 2004 (1st leg), and 12 June 2004 (2nd leg).
Uganda withdraws. Malawi advances.
Second round
Matches took place on 11 July (1st leg) and 24 July and 25 July (2nd leg) on home and away basis.
Both teams withdraw.
Because the Republic of Congo and Gabon withdraw. Mali qualified as lucky loser, having lost the narrowest in the round.
