The 2004–05 Los Angeles Kings season would have been the King's 38th season of play in the NHL; however, the 2004–05 NHL lockout cancelled all of the scheduled games for the season.

June 26, 2004 – Acquired Radek Bonk from Ottawa for a third-round choice in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

June 26, 2004 – Acquired Mathieu Garon and a third-round choice in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (Paul Baier) from Montreal for Radek Bonk and Cristobal Huet.

June 27, 2004 – Acquired Stephane Quintal from Montreal for future considerations.

June 27, 2004 – Acquired a seventh-round choice in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (John Seymour) from Columbus for a ninth-round choice in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
