The 2000 Easter Sunday tornado outbreak was a tornadic event which occurred in the Oklahoma-Texas-Arkansas-Louisiana areas on April 23, 2000. This severe weather occurrence was the result of a cold front moving through the area from north Texas resulting in the spawning of, at least, 6 supercell thunderstorms. Although the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service’s Shreveport, Louisiana Office contest as to the total number of confirmed tornadoes which transpired that day, as is indicated in the tables below, both institutions agree that at least 28 tornadoes did touch down within a 7 hour period on April 23, 2000. Fortunately, no fatalities resulted from these storms though reports indicate that, at least, 12 individuals were injured.
