The 1999 New Zealand National Basketball League season was the 18th running of the competition. Following four dismal seasons in the NBL, including a winless season in 1998, the Northland Suns left the league and ceased operations. In addition, the Hawke's Bay Hawks were demoted to the Conference Basketball League after finishing second last in 1998. The Auckland Rebels won the championship in 1999 to claim their sixth league title.
