The 1999-2000 NBA season was the Warriors' 59th season in the NBA and 38th in the San Francisco Bay Area. During the offseason, the Warriors acquired Mookie Blaylock from the Atlanta Hawks. The city of Oakland hosted the 2000 NBA All-Star Game. Second-year star Antawn Jamison, who led the Warriors with 19.6 points per game was invited to the Slam Dunk Contest, but did not participate due to an injury. At midseason, the Warriors traded John Starks to the Chicago Bulls, and acquired Larry Hughes and former Warriors forward Billy Owens from the Philadelphia 76ers in a three team trade. The Warriors struggled and finished sixth in the Pacific Division with a terrible 19–63 record. Following the season, Donyell Marshall was traded to the Utah Jazz, Owens was dealt along with Jason Caffey to the Milwaukee Bucks, who then sent him to the Detroit Pistons, and Terry Cummings retired.
