The 1997–98 season, was the Guildford Flames' sixth year of ice hockey. The Guildford Flames competed in the British National League.

The Guildford Flames won the Southern Conference and the British National League. The Flames also scored the most goals (98) and conceded the least (16) en route to the two-legged Christmas Cup Final against the Telford Tigers, which they lost 10-7 on aggregate. The season ended with the Guildford Flames being crowned Playoff Champions at the Finals weekend in Hull.

The season was also a success off the ice when the club gained increased media exposure with the launch of 'Inferno' a weekly television show that aired on ONTV CableTel. The show debuted at 6pm on Friday 9 January 1998.
