John McEnroe and Michael Stich were the defending champions but only Stich competed that year with Wayne Ferreira.

Ferreira and Stich lost in the third round to Jeremy Bates and Byron Black.

Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde won in the final 7–5, 6–3, 7–6(7–4) against Grant Connell and Patrick Galbraith. This was the second Grand Slam title for The Woodies, their first Wimbledon title in five consecutive, and the duo's second step towards a Career Golden Slam.
