The 1989 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship was the 30th organized men's college soccer tournament by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, to determine the top college soccer team in the United States. The Virginia Cavaliers and the Santa Clara Broncos were declared co-national champions after the championship game, ending in a 1-1 tie, was called due to inclement weather after four overtime periods. Both teams won their first national titles The final match was played on December 3, 1989, in Piscataway, New Jersey, at Rutgers Stadium. All the other games were played at the home field of the higher seeded team.
