Veteran Quarterback Greg Landry replaced Bert Jones as starter, as the Colts continued to struggle. Following the season Coach Ted Marchibroda would be fired, and replaced by Mike McCormack.The Colts finished the NFL's 1979 season with a record of 5 wins and 11 losses, and fifth in the AFC East division.
