The 1971 Championship of Australia was an Australian rules football match that took place on 2 October 1971.

The championship was contested by the premiers of the VFL and the premiers of the SANFL.

The match was played in Adelaide, South Australia.

The match, played in front of 37,149, was won by Hawthorn by a margin of 24 points, giving Hawthorn its 1st Championship of Australia Title.

This was the last Championship of Australia title to be held as a single game between the champions of the VFL, and the SANFL before the competition was expanded the following year into a knockout tournament that included the premiers of the WAFL and the premiers of the Tasmanian State Premiership.
