Fourth-seeded Australians John Newcombe and Tony Roche beat compatriots Ken Rosewall and Fred Stolle in the final of the Men's Doubles event in five sets - 3–6, 8–6, 5–7, 14–12, 6–3, becoming the first winners of the doubles title in the open era of tennis. It was the first of three consecutive Wimbledon titles for the Australian pair, and the third of five Wimbledon titles that they would earn together in their career.
