The 1961 Oregon State Beavers football team represented Oregon State University in the 1961 NCAA college football season. 1961 was the Beavers' third season as an independent. The Beavers ended this season with five wins and five losses. 1961 was the first under the university's current title, Oregon State University, which was adopted on March 6, 1961, by a legislative act signed into law by Governor Mark Hatfield. The Beavers scored 198 points and allowed 192 points. The team was led by head coach Tommy Prothro.
