Ace Comics, Avon Comics, EC Comics, Mainline Publications, Nedor Comics (Standard, Better, and Thrilling), and Quality Comics all cease publishing, though EC continues to publish Mad magazine (and Nedor is succeeded by the short-lived Pines Comics).
