William Clothier defeated Maurice McLoughlin 7–5, 6–4, 9–11, 6–3 in the All Comers' Final of the 1909 U.S. Men's National Singles Championship. Defending champion William Larned won the Challenge Round against William Clothier 6–1, 6–2, 5–7, 1–6, 6–1. The event was held at the Newport Casino in Newport, R.I., USA.
