The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters compete for the title of World Champion.

The 1898 competition took place on February 15th in London, United Kingdom.

According to the results of the championship, Gustav Hügel and Gilbert Fuchs filed a protest against the biased refereeing. Judges Adams, Jenkin, and von Rosen in their opinion strongly overestimate the Swede, vyvev it in the first place. In protest, they demanded to deprive Henning Grenander title. Protest organizers considered and rejected as not substantiated. After this scandal, Grenander left figure skating and in the official competition is no longer performed.
