History

Members of the brigade provide construction and design assistance for nations worldwide, both in aid to civilian authorities and traditional training environments. The 16th Engineer Brigade embarked on a mission to Eagle Pass, Texas, on the Rio Grande at the U.S.-Mexico border. As part of Joint Task Force 6, the brigade employed nearly 500 soldiers from April until July 2000, to improve roadways, emplace culverts and construct a wooden trestle bridge and two low water crossing sites. The improvements allow the United States Border Patrol to travel with ease along the border and respond quickly to illegal border crossings.
