Profiles

128 Records is an independent record label, which began under the name Ingot Rock in Asheville, North Carolina. It was founded in 2008 by Chad Corley, as a way to release music from his band the Sleep-ins and other recording artists he knew in Australia and the United States. Since gaining worldwide distribution with Burnside Distribution Corporation in 2010, the label has released records that have reached the Billboard and CMJ charts. In 2012 the label was moved to Nashville, Tennessee and continued operations under the name 128 Records.

History

After releasing a number of digitally distributed albums on the Amazon.com publishing service CreateSpace, the label's first full-length CD release (as Ingot Rock) came on September 21, 2010 with Claude Hay - Deep Fried Satisfied. Hay's album was the label's first to reach the charts, hitting #9 on the Billboard Blues chart in November 2010. In October 2010, the label's second full-length CD release was the Sleep-ins Songs About Girls & Outer Space, which was the first for the label to chart on the CMJ New Music Report.

Ingot Rock changed names in 2012 and operations were moved to Nashville, Tennessee. The first release under the 128 Records moniker was Claude Hay's October 2012 album, I Love Hate You.
