.221 Remington Fireball

The .20 VarTarg is a wildcat centerfire rifle cartridge, based on the .221 Remington Fireball case, necked down to fire a 5.2 millimetres (0.204 in) bullet. The VarTarg is most popular with varmint hunters because it provides good range (up to 300 meters) and uses relatively little powder, so the rifle barrel doesn't heat up quite as fast. The diminutive VarTarg pushes the 2.1 grams (32 gr) projectiles over into the 1,140 metres per second (3,750 ft/s) range with much less powder than is used by the .204 Ruger. The VarTarg achieves this performance by using fast, high-energy propellants.

The name VarTarg is a portmanteau of varmint and target.

There is also a .20 VarTarg Turbo based on the .222 Remington
