Ridesharing.com is a ridematching website for daily commute and long distance rideshare in Canada and the United States. Ridesharing.com also provides tools and services to implement a ridesharing program with companies, cities, universities, etc.

History
Launched on novembre 2005, the ridesharing website first started in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In early 2006, many cities already started using the website to offer a ridesharing website to their community.
In the years 2007 and 2008, several other cities and institutions join the network. With an increasing demand for ridesharing, the website expanded its activities to the whole province of Quebec and Canada as well.
In June 2016, Ridesharing.com launched a new version of its ridematching website to optimize long distance rides by integrating seat booking and online payment. The company continues, however, to offer daily commute rideshare for free. In early 2016, more than 110,000 people were registered on Ridesharing.com.
Description
Ridesharing.com is a ridesharing website that allows drivers to post a ride and offer seats on their vehicle for anywhere across Canada and the United States. Passengers can then book and pay their seat online for a long distance ride or make direct contact with the driver for short distance trips. Registration is free and seat booking is usually $5.
Safety being very important, Ridesharing.com contacts all new members and makes sure to explain how the system works. Members can rate each other after a completed rideshare and evaluations are then visible to all. Note that Ridesharing.com does not validate the driver's license since it would give a false sense of safety to users. This validation does not provide information on the driving record nor allows to be notified if the driver gets his license confiscated before the next validation.
